Once a proud shieldbearer, the Bone Defenders were honorable and loyal soldiers that served our family in ages long since passed. Holding the line on the battlefield with shield and trusty axe, those who were slain on the field of battle were given a place within the crypts of the Ruins among those who fought and died on the battlefield for our family’s name and glory. However, when their bodies died, so too did their loyalties…

When the Necromancer and his Apprentices desecrated his grave they brought this poor soldier back as a dark creature to protect his fellow undead within the Ruins. Like an undead mockery of the Man-at-Arms, it protects its unholy allies with his own body, holding the line with his sturdy shield and armor while those that hide behind him attack with impunity. Fortunately, these skeletal remains are lumberly with their heavy amour and it won't be difficult to get around his defenses.

Behavior[]

Bone Defenders are enemies commonly encountered within the Ruins. Their large shield leaves them well-armored and capable of taking a beating, and they can use this resilience to protect the other undead soldiers guarding the area.

The Defender always appears at the front and aims to frustrate your heroes with his hefty PROT and stun/move ability Dead Weight, whilst chipping away at their health with his axe. If pushed to the back he will move forwards with his near useless Clumsy Axeblade attack. Generally speaking, despite the potential annoyance of Dead Weight, unless you have a Blight attack spare, you should leave him alone at the start of battle and concentrate on the more vulnerable troops he is protecting.

As of the Radiant Update, the Veteran and Champion Defenders have a new skill: Foul Warding. It is a guard skill much like the Pelagic Guardian's Barnacle Barrier, guarding allies and conferring a PROT bonus to the Defender. Should the Defender use this skill, a simple Stun will cause it to drop its guard. The PROT bonus may persist, but its ally will become vulnerable.
