One of the many hardened bandits, brigands, and killers that the Ancestor hired as a mercenary army to retake the Hamlet after the people rebelled against him. Once the Ancestor died and no further payment seemed in sight, those same mercenaries turned to banditry, and can now be found raiding any of the areas surrounding the Hamlet. Expect no quarter from them, and offer none.

The Brigand Cutthroat is masterfully skilled with his blades, and able to deliver deadly thrusts that can easily decimate even the toughest of adventuring parties. Underestimate him at your own peril.

Behaviour[]

Brigand Cutthroats are human type enemies that can be found in every dungeon, but are most common in the Weald. While fragile with low health and negligible protection, they have a high chance to land critical hits, and as such can easily decimate even the healthiest of parties. They usually appear together with a Brigand Bloodletter and Brigand Fusilier each, or as a pair with 2 Brigand Fusiliers. Although the Bloodletters may seem more intimidating, you should focus on killing the Cutthroats first - they can do a lot more direct damage if left unchecked. Cutthroats can be neutralized for a turn if pushed to the back rank.

In Veteran and Champion level dungeons, they will usually start by debuffing Bleed resist using their Slice And Dice attack, before exploiting it with Shank in the 2nd turn (5x and 4x higher chance in comparison to his other skills), becoming an even greater threat to your party. Additionally, while he's present, the Brigand Bloodletter is more likely to exploit your reduced Bleed resist with Rain of Whips. On top of that, even after the first 2 turns, those two dangerous skills will be twice as likely to be used compared to the relatively less painful Uppercut Slice. Again: try to get rid of them quickly.

Trivia[]

He is the very first enemy encountered in the game, but there is an alternative option to reduce torch light to 0 and having 1% chance for Shambler to appear instead of the Brigand Cutthroat.
