The corruption of the groves is best shown through these ectoplasmic aberrations, which can engulf and digest man and beast alike. While these creatures appear non-threatening, countless adventurers have underestimated their abilities and suffered a slow, painful, and cruel death. Although they are fairly weak and can be easily destroyed with a righteous blow, they are capable of rapid reproduction which allows them to quickly replenish their numbers and overrun even the most seasoned of heroes. Worst still, they possess the ability to merge together into a much larger creature, one that can strike fear into any who gaze upon it.

Put an end to them quickly to prevent a trivial nuisance from turning into a dire threat.

Behaviour[]

It is not uncommon for an RPG to feature a relatively weak slime-based enemy, and the Ectoplasm is no exception to that. These oozes still carry within them the skeletons of the last humans they have consumed, and any valuables that those corpses would have carried are likely long digested or heavily damaged. While the Ectoplasm is a weak enemy on its own, it is capable of rapid reproduction, potentially overwhelming a party that cannot keep its numbers in check. If left few unattended for too long, they can summon a stronger form, a sure sign of a battle going awry.

Ectoplasms are fairly weak in that they possess low HP and no protection, but it would be a mistake to underestimate them. Their Cytokinesis ability allows them to continually summon reinforcements, making the battle last longer and causing more potential problems for your party. If there are 2 empty spaces (or partially/fully taken by corpses) then they can use Ectoplasmic Profusion ability to summon far more dangerous Large Ectoplasm.

Try to take advantage of their slow speed and relatively low Stun resist to quickly cull their numbers before they overrun your party.

Ectoplasms never contribute to any post-battle loot on defeat.

*Require 2 empty spaces.Corpses of Any monster will also count as free space and allow to use Ectoplasmic Profusion.

**It isn't true that ectoplasm require other ectoplasm or corpse to use that skill.

***If the slime attacks and is killed by a Man-at-arms (Retribution) or Highwayman (Duelist's advance) with Riposte active, then a slime will not be summoned.
