Each Region in Darkest Dungeon II ends at an Inn where the party can rest and recuperate. While at the Inn the player can spend mastery points, purchase supplies, and upgrade the Stagecoach before embarking on the next region of the journey. Each Inn has slightly different effects that are may be applied upon arrival or departure. The Inn is also the only place where Inn Items may be used.

An Inn: The Vestal's Secret
Travelogue[]
The Inn provides the player with a Travel Log that describes some of the more notable things that occurred in the region prior. This includes quirks gained, diseases contracted, hero deaths, etc.
Ending The Run[]
At the Inn the player has the option to abandon their run. Abandoning the run at the Inn acts slightly differently than abandoning the run mid-region. If the player elects to end their run at the Inn, they are allowed to keep an amount of their Candles of Hope that are stored.
The Inn's Services[]
The Inn offers multiple services that the player can utilize to improve their Hero's relationships, abilities, and Stagecoach. They can also have their Hero's eat food and purchase items for use in the rest of the Expedition. Combat Items, Inn Items, and Stagecoach Items are all sold here.
- Mastery Trainer - Improve the party's skills.
- The Provisioner - Purchase supplies.
- The Wainwright - Repair and upgrade The Stagecoach.
Region Selection[]

Region Selection
The player will be given a choice of the next Region to traverse. There will always be at least two choices and up to three. Regions (besides The Sluice) will have both a modifier and a goal listed.
Embarking[]

The embark screen for The Tangle
Once a region is selected and the player is ready to continue they will be given the option to Embark. This will take them to an Embark screen where the player will be given the chance to see what Relationships their Heroes have formed. From here the player can then select to progress the expedition.
