The corruption of the groves has poisoned the earth, making the festering ground fertile for evil to take root and grow, giving birth to so many malformed and misshapen abominations. If the Ectoplasms are said to be the corruption of the groves personified, one wonders what manner of creature has given birth to so many of these aberrations.

The "mother" of these ectoplasmic aberrations is a profusion of one or more Ectoplasms, merging together to become a much larger and much more dangerous entity, the simply named Large Ectoplasm. For such a large creature it’s very simplistic and guided only by two instinctive needs; the need to breed and to feed. Though similar in mentality to its smaller offspring, this raging, gelatinous blob of ectoplasm is far more durable, making it very hard to vanquish this foe. While uncommon to encounter on its own, when any Ectoplasm cries for its parent, this dire monstrosity appears as a form of reinforcement, inflicting heavy stress on your party when it arrives.

Behavior[]

Large Ectoplasms are bigger and tougher versions of their basic counterparts, possessing similar replication abilities. With greater mass comes greater resilience and the ability to hit harder - the weight of its attacks alone can daze those who are struck by them.

Large Ectoplasms may be encountered on their own, or may be fought if two regular Ectoplasms merge to create one. Large Ectoplasms can do respectable damage and inflict debuffs on your party - on top of that, they retain the ability to use Cytokinesis to summon additional Ectoplasms into the fight. The Bounty Hunter and Houndmaster's marking abilities can come in handy here, reducing the Ectoplasm's PROT and allowing you to kill it quickly. You'll also want to control the Ectoplasms it summons: if any remain alive when you finish the large one off, they may well just use Ectoplasmic Profusion to create a replacement and leave you right back where you started.
