The Polyp is a spawn of the Eldritch monstrosity beneath the manor. It can be quite annoying in the back rows with pushes, blights and marking. When pulled to front ranks, however, they are practically harmless. Since they are quite weak by themselves, it may be a good idea to kill other enemies first and stall for a few turns to heal.

Behavior[]

Venomous Phlegm: The Polyp will usually open the fight with this move (10 times more likely at the first turn than at any other one). Otherwise, it has a 1.0 chance of using it.

Banish: It is twice more likely to attack with this skill from the 2nd turn onward than with "Venomous Phlegm". However, should you be fighting with less than 3 heroes, this move will not be used (although at this point it would be anyways ill-advised to keep fighting).

Cooldowns: Between each use of "Venomous Phlegm", the Polyp will wait at least 2 turns before using it again.

Trivia[]

  • While in real life a polyp is an abnormal tissue growth found commonly in the colon, in the H.P. Lovecraft story "A Shadow Out of Time" flying polyps are an elder race of extraterrestrial creatures that can fly despite not having wings and have control over air currents that they use to attack with. It should be noted that the name "Flying Polyp" is for convenience, as Lovecraft never published the name of the race.
