Released May 19, 2016, Town Events are events occurring in the Hamlet of The Darkest Dungeon. Town Events add variety to the overall campaign and also provide additional personality to the Hamlet itself! In some cases, the events are related to Quests. For example, the All Saints Day event always proceeds after successfully completing the "Reclaim Relics of the Light" quest in the Ruins. All Saints Day sends the Abbey into a zealous celebration, and makes all treatments there free for that week!
‘Town Events’ are designed to add variety to the Hamlet over the course of a campaign. Upon returning from an expedition, there is a chance for a thematic event to trigger in town – this functions akin to a deck of event cards. You can toggle the frequency of Town Events in the gameplay options. Generally, most events are positive, so it is recommended that you set this at "plentiful".
There will not always be a Town Event, but when there is an extra hotlink to that announcement will appear in the bottom hotbar, so you can close the announcement safely and return to it later if you need to.

- During the "Bumper Crop" event a farmer and his wife will apear at the ancestor's statue in poses that reference the painting "American Gothic" by Grant Wood.
- "Experienced Hero for Hire" can contain heroes with unique quirks that have been obtained by other heroes in your current roster already.
